Alan Windham and Mark Windham, professors in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, recently treated students to an unforgettable experience. Alan Windham, recognized for his leadership in educational programs focusing on diseases affecting ornamental plants, brought his extensive collection to Knoxville for display to students enrolled in EPP 410, Diseases and Insects of Ornamental Plants.
Students, along with faculty and staff, eagerly gathered to witness the depth of the collection. Mark Windham, equally renowned within the department, echoed the sentiment, stating, “The collection is without peer in North America, perhaps the world.”
As this marked Alan Windham’s final presentation for the class, students embraced the opportunity to delve into the world of ornamental plant diseases. Their enthusiasm was palpable as they engaged with the specimens and absorbed insights from the experienced professors.
The event not only provided a valuable educational experience but also fostered a sense of appreciation for the expertise and dedication of both Alan and Mark Windham. Students left inspired and enriched, carrying with them a deeper understanding of the complexities within ornamental plant pathology.
