Julian Cosner, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, is featured in the 2022 Spring issue of Our Tennessee. In the article “Nipping it in the Bud”, Julian discusses his research and how he wishes to provide research-based information that helps farmers.
Cosner’s research focuses on corn earworm, a pest of hemp. “This insect is a tough one to deal with.” Cosner says. The corn earworm is damaging to pests in its larval form. It feeds on the bud of the hemp plant, which is the marketable portion of the crop when it’s grown for cannabidiol.
