EPP Receives Numerous Awards at the Start of 2021

In 2021, numerous individuals in the Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology were honored with prestigious awards, showcasing their outstanding contributions to agriculture.

  • EPP Diversity & Inclusion Committee: Named the 2021 winner of the Dr. Marva Rudolph Diversity and Inclusion Unit Excellence Award, recognizing their exceptional leadership and commitment to advancing diversity and inclusion at UT.
  • Professor Scott Stewart: Awarded the Entomological Society of America (ESA) Southeastern Branch Award for Excellence in Integrated Pest Management and nominated for the National ESA Excellence in Integrated Pest Management Award.
  • Professor Frank Hale: Recognized with the ESA Southeastern Branch Distinguished Achievement Award in Extension and nominated for the National ESA Distinguished Achievement Award in Extension.
  • Autumn McLaughlin: Honored as the 2021 recipient of the Kirby L. Hays Award for Outstanding M.S. Graduate Student.
  • Dave Paulsen: Selected as the recipient of the 2021 Herbert College of Agriculture Outstanding Staff Award.
  • Julian Cosner: Secured 1st place in the M.S. Student Oral Presentations at the ESA Southeastern Branch Annual Meeting and delivered an Invited Speaker presentation on “Entomological Benefits of IDM: Integrated Diversity Management”.
  • Jessica Krob: Achieved 2nd place in the M.S. Student Oral Presentations at the ESA Southeastern Branch Annual Meeting.
  • UT Entomology Games Team (UT Blue-tick Hounds): Secured 3rd place in the Competition at the ESA Southeastern Branch Annual Meeting. The team consisted of Julian Cosner, Kassie Hollabaugh, Dawson Kerns, and the team caption Matthew Longmire.
  • Kadie Britt: Successfully defended her dissertation and fulfilled all requirements for graduation.
